Configuring Mouse Tracks

The Mouse Tracks configuration form is accessible to administrators of the database through the Tools menu. The form is divided in to five tabs. Each tab contains the global preferences that can be set for the main areas within Mouse Tracks. The areas are Administrative, Help Desk, Inventory, Purchasing, and the IIS Help Desk Interface Add-On. The settings on this form are global which means that all Mouse Tracks users will see the changes you make.

Administrative Tab

Tables that are administrative related are Departments and Locations.  These tables can also be accessed using the main form's Data Menu.

Allow datasheet mode - Select this if you wish to allow your users the ability to view tables in Datasheet Mode.

Maximum File Attachment Size Allowed - Limits the size of a file that can be stored in Mouse Tracks.  Administrative users will see a warning message if they try to attach a file that is larger than the allowed size.  Non administrative Mouse Tracks users will not be allowed to import files that exceed this size.

Company Logo - If you select a company logo, it will appear in the header section of your reports and graphs as well as purchase orders created in Mouse Tracks. The graphic must not exceed 100 x 100 pixels which is approximately a 1 square inch. If the graphic is larger than 100 x 100, it will be cropped.  The logo must be in .bmp format.

Synchronize Mouse Tracks User List with Active Directory -  This command will open the LDAP Query form. Use this to add or synchronize your Mouse Tracks accounts with your Active Directory domain accounts. By default accounts created through the import will not have passwords or permissions or Mouse Tracks Client Access.  In addition to importing the users, other information is also synchronized with the account.  First Name, Last Name, Title, Phone Number, Pager Number, Cellular Number, Department and Notes are all pulled into the Mouse Tracks database when you run the synchronization.

Inventory Tab

Software List Flag Color - From the inventory tab you can choose the color of flagged software items. This color would be noticed by viewing the software tab on the computer detail form.

Import Audit Defaults - Check the appropriate boxes to set the default options for importing audits.

There are four tables related to the main inventory tables. They are Peripheral Classes (types), Software Categories, Documentation Types, and Media Types (Software Media Types).

Help Desk Tab

Allow Direct Editing of Ticket Resolutions - Choose this option is you would like to be able to directly edit a ticket's resolution. By default this value is not checked therefore you can only append information to the resolution. If you choose to allow direct editing of resolutions, be aware that the changes made will not be recorded in the ticket's history.

Suggested Due Date Offset - Enter the number of days that will be added to the current date to determine the Expected Due Date.  This setting is for the Mouse Tracks Windows Client Only.  The Mouse Tracks Web Setting can be configured directly through the web interface.

Help Desk Email Settings - Opens a form to configure automated email options.  These options are shared with Mouse Tracks Web.

Help Desk List Colors - Select the color you want help desk tickets to appear if they are due within the numbered warn days or late days.  These colors are seen when viewing the Help Desk List.  For Mouse Tracks to determine whether or not a ticket is due today, or whether or not it is past due, the 'Due Date' field (eventDueDate) must be one of the items in the user's list. See List Box Settings for more information.

Ticket Types and Ticket Priorities are tables related to the Help Desk portion of Mouse Tracks.
